My name is Quentin Van Der Steen and I started 2 weeks ago as a starter at Hedera.
I graduated in June 2018 as a Master in Business Administration at the VUB. After my studies it was immediately clear to me that I wanted to dive into the consulting world. A job in consulting provides a lot of variation in your work and has a very steep learning curve (which is advantageous as a starter). After some research it was clear to me that Hedera fully supported my ambitions and wishes. Why Hedera? Hedera is a growing management consulting company with a heart for its employees, with projects in all sorts of sectors and an enormous amount of expertise in different knowledge areas. The recent acquisition by Cognizant has only strengthened these points and will continue to do so in the future.
My first week was immediately very fascinating! The first day started with an extensive introduction about Hedera and Cognizant. After the introduction, the administrative matters were arranged as well as the nice benefits you get as a Hederian, such as a company car, mobile phone and laptop.
On Tuesday I was told that there was already a project around Agile waiting for me. This gave me some time to delve into this matter.
Wednesday was D-day, my first day working on a project! Together with two other colleagues, we are guiding a client around an Agile implementation. Collaborating with other colleagues during your first project is very positive as a starter. This allows you to process everything properly, ask for explanations and learn a lot in a short time.
Thursday was already my first Thirstday! Every first Thursday of the month, Hedera organizes a drink at a nice location with all its employees. This Thirstday was held in Ixelles, in a cozy bar. In addition to the delicious food and drinks, a business update was also held around a few topics, but especially around the recent acquisition by Cognizant. I thought this was a very nice experience! On the one hand to hear the expectations and the results of Hedera and Cognizant and on the other hand to meet all my colleagues. But all good things come to an end, so on Friday we cracked on again!
This was only my first week, but I’ve already learned so much!
Hedera, I’m very excited!
