Our client is a Belgian direct bank, operating domestically in a very competitive market. Given the success of so-called robo-advisor solutions in foreign countries (the US, the UK, France, etc.), they were looking to be a first mover in the Belgian market, entailing a need for acting in a quick and agile manner.

The challenge

  • Our client was looking to launch an online automated investment tool (a so-called “robo-advisor”), which automatically invests a customer’s funds in several predefined asset categories with a monthly rebalancing of the entire portfolio. The entire process is based on advanced financial models and algorithms.
  • The goal of the project was to build and launch a Minimum Viable Product (MVP)

What we did

Project management:

  • Market research on existing tool functionalities
  • Full coordination of the end-to-end and regression testing
  • Definition of potential enhancements of the MVP for next phases

Quantitative analysis:

  • Advanced back-testing & tweaking of defined model portfolios
  • Rebuilt all financial models to verify accuracy and correctness of calculated outcomes

The result

  • On time delivery & launch of the solution
  • Strong performance of the portfolio compared to peer solutions both in terms of back-testing and first months after delivery
  • Excellent delivery in terms of quality, which was also confirmed by a final financial risk audit of the solution
